چکیده

The present study has attempted to explore the relationship among three Slovakian Haban populations with other Central European populations using finger ridge-count data. A multivariate approach to the analysis of finger-ridge count data allows for the study of population relationships using R-matrix calculations. Historical and ethnographic evidence suggests that the Haban populations have remained somewhat isolated from the larger Slovak communities and have maintained their cultural identity as descendents of Hutterite populations. The finger-ridge analysis suggests that in fact the Habans have remained isolated from the broader Central European population. It also appears that genetic drift has played a significant role the history of these populations and that because of drift Fig. 2. Identification of Dermatoglyphic Patterns in Parents of Children with Cystic Fibrosis

Background Dermatoglyphics could assist in the diagnosis of congenital abnormalities. The aim of this study was to identify the dermatoglyphic patterns (finger print pattern type, total ridge count of each finger, a-b ridge count, and articulotrochanteric distance [ATD angles]) in the parents of cystic fibrosis children. Materials and Methods We recruited 75 parents of children with cystic fibr...

Comparison of Quantitative and Qualitative Dermatoglyphic Characteristics ‎of Opium Addicts with Healthy Individuals

Background: Recreational drugs have a significant impact on the lives of drug users, their close families and friends, as well as their society. Social, psychological, biological, and genetic factors could make a person more prone to using recreational drugs. Finger and A-B ridges (dermatoglyphics) are formed during the first and second trimesters of fetal development, under the influence of en...

Finger ridge count correlations among four tribes of Andhra Pradesh, India.

The present paper reports the distribution of finger ridge count correlations among four tribal populations from Andhra Pradesh, India viz., Dulia, Kotia, Manne Dora and Manzai Mali, and examines the intra and inter population variation. Higher correlations are recorded in left hands compared to right hands, but they are not significant. The homologous fingers exhibit a stronger correlation. In...
